I was bent up like Igor for weeks?

Your case was never closed -- it is a personal injury and subject to your state's statute of limitations, usually 1 or 2 years. A good rough guideline for your settlement value is the amount of your medical bills x 3. Insurance adjusters have tricks -- one of them is to give you only enough info to do what they want. The settlement check should NOT be cashed before you consult a lawyer. That is another trick -- sending you a check that WILL close your case once cashed. If all you want is settlement, then pay a lawyer for an hour of time only -- do not agree to pay the lawyer a big share of the settlement for the little time it will take to ess your case.
