Does the Cap and Tax bill give the federal government the right to inspect your home?
The point is not that they are inspecting the property, they already do that, it’s what they will be looking for and how much it will cost you to retrofit an older home to the new standard that’s the problem. I lived in a home built in 1923. It was old, but quite nice. Over the years I replaced MOST of the windows with new energy efficient triple pane thermal gl, but my bay window and several of the stained gl accent windows are still single pane. Bringing a home built 90 years ago up to the standards imposed by the bill will cost tens of thousands to accomplish. In most cases they type of insulation used 90 years ago won’t p the ultra high efficiency standards of today, under Cap & trade, I’d have to cut the walls open, remove and replace all the insulation in the external walls. That alone would cost tens of thousands to do.
