Can you "feel" conception?

My husband and i are trying to have a baby. the other day after fooling around the night before, i got the strange twinges in my side, like i was ovulating. which i couldn't have been seeing how i just got off my period 2 days before. my cycles are slightly irregular. could this have been conception i was feeling?
